Feeding a voltage through a fixed set of resistors representing distance in kilometers and resulting varying current fed to ADC inbuilt in microcontroller a micro controller outputs the display in kilometers based on current flow at specific fault created by a set of switches for testing purposes. This is kit used to detect the underground cable fault and display the distance of fault on LCD.
The kit is an automation unit to detect the fault in the cables and proper display the distance of the fault. Here we have used AVR microcontroller with inbuilt ADC. The voltage across the cable varies as per the fault at various distances. We measure the change in the voltage drop and on the basis of this we can tell the distance of the fault.
The entire unit are monitored and controlled by the controller that is fault detection and display on LCD. Here we have introduced the manual faults using the switches at various places. The kit consists of fault monitoring and introducing unit, the AVR family controller and the display unit 16×2 LCD to display the fault distance. The kit is designed for 3 phase cable wiring.
